Herbert Hoover was taken into office in 1929, being America's 31st president during the time of the economy crash. Some of Hoover's policies contributed to the Great Depression, but he blamed the American's minds that contributed to the crisis that lased for over a decade. Hoover failed to recognize how severe the Depression got over time as the economy got worse and worse. Herbert Hoover was born on August 10, 1874, in West Branch Iowa. He was second of three children of Quakers, that cared about honesty, industriousness, and simplicity. His father was a blacksmith, and his mother worked as a teacher. After being orphaned at the age of nine, he was primarily raised by an uncle in Oregon. After Hoover left office, he emerged as a prominent critic of Roosevelt's New Deal program. Hoover wrote articles and different books outlining his conservative and republican political views and warning about the dangers of investing too much power in the Government. After Hoover left office, The Depression lasted for another eight years, despite Roosevelt's active intervention, some historians argued for a more sympathetic appraisal of Hoover's presidency.
